You know Rustypants, I have been thinking. When we created this blog, I imagined that we would inspire a world full of people wasting countless hours of precious time trying to come up with the perfect away message, just for the thrill of seeing it appear here, within our cyber walls. I pictured us spending Friday nights around the Scrabble board marveling at our friends' humorous, witty, bitingly sarcastic (but none the less lovable) away messages. I thought we would create a legacy that would live on in cyber space forever. I thought we would finally reach Nirvana.
Unfortunately, the only benefit I have gained from this site is the new found knowledge that all of our friends are chicken ninnies.
You heard me. C-h-i-c-k-e-n N-i-n-n-i-e-s.
Instead of raising up to the challenge we have set before you, you all cower in the shadow of fear. Instead of impressing us with your intellect, you've shown us that your lives are nothing more than shallow puddles of American fluff. "I'm out." "I'm doing homework." "Gone to bed." Where's the creativity in that? These are not away messages that are going to save you a spot next to Plato! We are never going to reach the stars if we have to climb to heaven on piles of poop (especially if Scott's dog keeps eating them)! Why, if this blog were a Choose Your Own Adventure book...you would be that kid that goes through and reads all of the endings and then goes back to the beginning to decide which one to pick! You should all be ashamed.
And on a different note, I think paranoid people are swell. I'm sorry that we have had such a detrimental effect on your away message creation process. Please remember, this blog is just for fun. We are not here to criticize or judge any one. We are all part of one big happy family. Keep smiling and always sing a happy song in your heart!

I'm not really paranoid. It's just a part of my online persona. The main reason I don't put up away messages is due to the combination of me (1) having only 20-something people on my buddy list, thus knowing the unliklihood that anyone would read it, and (2) having dialup, thus preventing me from leaving a message up throughout the day. If I were online more, I'd be happy to do all I can to give you good new material.
